The WiFi (Wireless Ethernet) option provides cable-free network connectivity for Doran scales using the 802.11 wireless standard. It offers the same networking capabilities as wired Ethernet but without the need to run cables, which is ideal for installations where wiring is difficult or where scales need to be mobile. The wireless module interfaces with your facility’s Wi-Fi network (802.11b/g) to send weight data directly to any computer on the network, all via standard TCP/IP networking.
KEY PERFORMANCE FEATURES INCLUDE
Freedom from Cables
Wireless Ethernet frees you from the cost and constraints of running network cables to the scale. Scales can be placed or moved anywhere within the Wi-Fi coverage area (approximately 300–400 feet indoors, depending on the environment) and still communicate with the system.
Seamless Integration
The scale joins your existing Wi-Fi LAN just like any other wireless device. It utilizes TCP/IP, so weight data is accessible to software applications on any networked PC as if the scale were plugged in via cable. This makes real-time data collection and monitoring possible over the air.
Secure Communications
Doran’s wireless option supports standard Wi-Fi security protocols to keep your network and data safe. Encryption and authentication (such as WPA/WPA2 and enterprise security) are employed, ensuring the scale’s data transmission integrates securely into corporate networks without compromising IT policies.
Industrial Design
The WiFi hardware is installed internally and includes a rugged antenna solution. For example, a flexible antenna is mounted via a NEMA 4X-rated bulkhead fitting on the back of the indicator. This protected design maintains the scale’s washdown protection (IP67) while ensuring a strong wireless signal for reliable communication in industrial environments.
